UNFULFILLED RELATIONSHIPS
We have always been hearing about unfulfilled love. When
two people maintain a relationship that cannot be fully realized, often
the reason for it is the existence of another person or the attachments
to something that has a higher priority than the relationship itself. Man
is an animal and as all animals he has an instinct for the hunt that never
goes away. When he enters a relationship that cannot be realized, he never
considers the consequences and the pain he will cause to the others. And
consequences are painful, they erode self-respect, give rise to jealousy
that can become an obsession or illness, and the feeling of failure and
guilt due to dishonesty follow for the rest of the life, regardless of
whether one had the role of the hunter, the prey, or the victim.
The emotions in an unfulfilled relationship are not easy to understand.
They are damaging because they destroy self-confidence. We assign the guilt
to the others, and cannot understand that the hunter and the prey are equal
partners in an unrealized relationship.
There is nothing quite as effective as such relationships to induce
maturation and transformation, and they usually come through pain and helplessness.
Everything in life happens for a reason, even the beginning of an
unfulfilled relationship. It is up to us to decide how will we react and
how will we treat ourselves and the others in this case.
Often such relationships activate hidden emotions and childhood frustrations.
Astrology can recognize the predisposition towards unfulfilled relationships
in an individual horoscope and can assist in understanding the underlying
reasons why one enters such relationships and what prevents them from transforming
and realizing.
There are several types of unfulfilled relationships.
The seeking of ideals and emotional immaturity
One of the partners is free and does not want to form
deep attachments because the other person does not fulfill the criteria
they want to establish in a relationship. Usually it is an emotionally
immature person that is afraid of responsibilities. Their life is marked
by social escape into group activities, forced athletic activities, or
the choice of the partner that does not accept him and which will be non-realistically
idolized.
Venus, the planet of given love is as jeopardized as the Moon, the
planet of accepted love. The person in question has most likely grown
up in a setting where they did not receive love and where they did
not learn to return love. Rarely do those with love planets in jeopardy
feel truly happy, and that only happens if they manage to recognize
a partner that has a harmonious relationship of their planets with
their jeopardized planets, and that often happens late in life when
they have already tried all the other types of relationships.
Purely sexual relationship
A relationship based on physical – sexual
attraction and which took off at the very beginning. In such a relationship
one partner does not allow closer spiritual bonding, usually the
male. While the female accepts that kind of a relationship at the
beginning, she soon starts looking for more, and that is when the problems
start. Ego feels threatened; self-confidence is shaken because somewhere
out there is a person that shares 'something more' with the partner. If
there is a difference in age, the older partner will ease his conscience
and supplement the lack of emotions with presents and the promises of better
times to come. The younger partner will be temporary satisfied until the
relationship burns out due to problems. Oftentimes such relationships produce
children that ultimately have to pay for the mistakes of their parents.
Purely intellectual relationship
Usually is achieved with a partner that has sexual problems
that can be masked successfully or unsuccessfully, depending on the person.
Such a relationship can last the whole life. Each of the actors assigns
the characteristics to the other partner that is far from reality.
Today, with the advent of cell phones and the Internet, there are
quite a lot of these relationships. They often damage the psyche and inflict
permanent wounds on the partner that is more in love and cannot understand
the reasons why this relationship is not realized.
On and off relationships
These
relationships can also last the entire life. Usually they are born from
a purely sexual relationship that has become something more. The partners
meet occasionally when they take some time off from their business or legal
obligations. The time they spend together is limited to few hours. They
only share the good times, do not expect much and they are aware of the
limitations they accept. This relationship becomes risky if the discretion
is disregarded or if their everyday partners meet or if they know each
other and a 'friendship' forms.
Relationships that are not realized or are unfulfilled are between
two partners and another 'person' that is in a relationship with
one of the partners and which prevents full realization. That other
'person' does not have to be a spouse. It can be a mother, a child,
a friend, work, even an animal. In astrological practice we have often
encountered people who have given up on the relationship because their
partner would not accept their cat or a dog. It can also be the career
of one of the partners that
was not accepted or looked down upon by the other
partner, as it happens often to artists due to their
lack of stable income.
All these relationships have something in common.
Partner's love was not first and foremost. And when we have to share
love with someone, whether it is a third partner, an ideal, or anything
else, we feel dis
appointed,
cheated, and lost.
People who have no luck in love have a need to stay alone. When they
imagine themselves in a fully realized relationship, they see that
is not what they want.
All relationships provide an opportunity for spiritual
growth, and most of all relationships in unfulfilled ones. A relationship
is recognition of existence.
Astrology gives us an opportunity to discover the reasons for failure
of a relationship.
The positions of Venus will tell us what and in which way a person
loves.
The positions of the Moon show us if they are capable of receiving
love and in which way.
Mars and Pluto will tell us about sexuality while Mercury will show
us the secrets of the soul.
Ascendant will show us
what is expected from the partner.
